In foam box manufacturing especially, stable compressed air is essential during the blowing and forming stage, where rapid cooling helps improve molding consistency, shorten production cycles, and maintain product quality.
Recently, the Olymtech team visited one of our long-term customers in Australia, a foam box manufacturing factory operating 4 sets of Olymtech CMP Series 110kW VSD screw compressors to support daily production.
Stable Operation for Continuous Manufacturing
Foam packaging factories often operate continuously, with air demand fluctuating across different production stages. Maintaining stable pressure and reliable airflow is critical to ensuring smooth machine operation and consistent product output.
At this customer site, the Olymtech CMP Series compressors provide stable compressed air for molding equipment, pneumatic systems, and cooling applications throughout the production process.
What impressed us most was the long-term operating performance of the system. The oldest compressor has been operating since 2017 and continues to run reliably after nearly 9 years in real production conditions.
Proven Energy-Saving Performance
The system also demonstrates strong long-term energy efficiency.
The oldest unit has accumulated over 10,817 running hours with a total energy consumption of 524,288 kWh. As a 110kW VSD compressor, the system automatically adjusts motor speed according to real-time air demand, resulting in an average operating power of approximately 48.5kW during actual production conditions.
Compared with conventional fixed-speed operation, the VSD system helps reduce unload losses and unnecessary energy consumption, particularly important in foam packaging production, where air demand frequently changes throughout the manufacturing process.
Maximizing Energy Utilization with Heat Recovery
In addition to efficient compressed air supply, all compressor units at the factory are equipped with heat recovery systems.
During compressor operation, a large portion of electrical energy is converted into heat. Instead of allowing this heat to dissipate, the recovery system captures and reuses thermal energy for factory applications, helping improve overall energy utilization and reduce operating costs.
By combining VSD technology with heat recovery solutions, the factory achieves more sustainable and energy-efficient production while maintaining stable operation.
